How Does Printing on Tapestry Material Work?
Tapestry and needlework is a very technical skill, so we print your photo or design directly onto the fabric allowing you to stitch over it. Rather than using shop bought designs, this allows total customisation so you can create a gorgeous wall hanging for your home, or make a special homemade tapestry gift. There's no need for a colour map, or tracing patterns, as your photo is there on the tapestry fabric already.
Tips for Making Your Tapestry
Typically, we suggest using two strands of thread for our printed tapestry fabric. Traditional tapestry wool is suitable for all 10, 12 and 14 canvas counts. If you have a lot of fine details in your photo, you might want to try using Persian yarn or Crewel wool. Crewel wool is very fine, made from 2 spun yarns twisted together, whereas Persian yarn is slightly thicker, usually made from three strands of Crewel wool twisted together.
If you plan on framing your tapestry, don't forget to factor this in to your dimensions, allowing for some extra white space around your design.
Upload your photos or patterns in the design interface and get ready to make a gorgeous tapestry picture at home.
