Clothing Fabric Printing and Finishing Methoods
When you order custom clothing fabric by the yard, it will be digitally printed, using one of our popular methods, these include pigment printing and dye sublimation. Please note that due to the nature of the fabric and our processing methods, the Pima Lawn, Cotton Linen and Janice Poplin Cotton may occasionally have very small white dots where pieces of cotton fluff are removed revealing unprinted white base material. Please note that this is normal and cannot be avoided but won't affect the strong colours and detailed nature of your print. All of our methods will permanently bond the print to the fabric, presenting your design in all it's splendour.
Pigment Printing - Localised printing applying the dye directly to the fabric to build up the colours and design
Reactive Printing - Printing directly onto the fabric, where the dyes bond themselves deep into the fibres using reactive chemistry
Dye Sublimation - Printing of the design onto a transfer paper, and then using heat to bond to the fabric
Once your apparel fabric is printed you can choose how you would like it finishing. There are a variety of options available to you.
As it Comes - Your printed clothing fabric sent straight from the printer to you, will have a white border around the edges
Cut on the Line - One of our experts will cut your fabric on the line of your print, so you receive a border-less fabric
Hemmed with overlock - A hem which is stitched totally over the edge of your fabric, available in black or white thread
Hemmed with baby hem - A single or two fold hem, depending on the fabric, stitched with a straight stitch, in black or white thread
If you choose to have one of our seamstresses hem your apparel fabric, please allow extra fabric for hemming when you give us your bespoke measurements.
