How your Waterproof Bathroom Blinds Work
When you place the order for your blinds there might be a couple of things you want to consider.
Step 1: Choose your style
Have your waterproof roller blind for bathrooms made in one of two styles; relief and recess. Relief blinds attach to the outside of your window - on the frame or wall - and when pulled down will cover the window and it's edges. Recess blinds are fitted inside your window frame and will sit on your window sill when they are pulled down. Both have different benefits, and it's entirely up to you which one you would prefer.
Relief mount photo blinds
This is where the blind screws to the window frame or wall and stands proud of the wall or frame. You must include at least 5cms (1.96 inches) in width to house the spindle fittings as well as the personalised blind.
Recess mount photo blinds
The blind goes inside the 'box' of the window. We need to know the precise dimensions of the recess. Then we subtract 3.2cm (1.25 inches) from print width to allow for brackets in recess. The finished blind including brackets will equal your selected width.
Step 2: Measure your window
To make sure your blind is the right size, you'll need to measure your window, both from top to bottom and left to right. Our online design tool has selectable measurements, so whether you prefer inches, centimetres, yards or metres you're fine.
The important bit - for relief blinds you need to add a minimum of 5cm onto your width to allow the spindle fittings to be housed without making your waterproof blind too small. For recess blinds you need to give us the exact measurement. We will then make the necessary adjustments so that both the blind and brackets come to the width you have specified.
Step 3: Select your blind type
This part is where you choose the way that all the components come together to make up your blind. This is all really simple, and done in the design tool. Let us know whether you have chosen a recess or relief blind, and make sure you provide the correct measurements for your blind type, as above. Choose whether the cord is fastened to the left or the right of the blind, and you can upgrade the white plastic cord to a silver metal one. You can at this point change your mind and change the material to a standard blind, but bear in mind that this allows some light through and will no longer have waterproofing.
Step 4: Create your print
Now it's time for the fun bit. Use photos, create your own design or add text to your bathroom roller blinds. Use a single shot, or upload multiple images and create your own picture collage. You can even check your blind using the design view button. This will show you exactly how it will look on a roller blind, and you can even zoom in to check over the finer details.
Step 5: Check Again
We know you've already checked your design, likely more than once, but you absolutely should double-triple-check every part of your design. We'll get in touch if we pick up issues with your images and resolution or quality, but you'll need to check the spelling, if you have text, and the positioning of your images. We make all of your blinds by hand and to guarantee a super speedy turnaround time we start as soon as we can after we get your order. So that we can do this, make sure that you are absolutely, positively happy with your design, and then submit your order. That's it, all done, and we can start making your waterproof window blinds straight away.
Please note: Above your chosen print, we add two to three wraps of printed fabric around the top of the blind, in order to cover the pole completely. We use a mirror of your print so the colours match and look the part. Make sure that when you are pulling down the blind you do not exceed the lower window ledge, to ensure the fabric does not fall from the pole.
Waterproof Bathroom Blinds
All of our waterproof roller blinds for bathroom use are fire certified, so they have been tested and are safe to use in homes.
To get the best results and ensure your blinds are designed and installed to perfection, follow our instructions and read our
Safety & Fitting guide.
Child Safety Regulations mean that all blinds have to comply with EN13120. Contrado Imaging Ltd takes the following measures to comply:
- A safety breaker piece will be supplied, with any blind with cords and/or chains.
- We advise the recommended distance from the floor to the bottom of the chain will be at least 80cm.
- We supply the cord length at 2/3rds the length of your chosen drop.
- A warning notice comes attached to your roller blind.
- Installation instructions will be provided and must be available once the blind has been fitted.
- There will be a warning notice on the product packaging.
- Our company name and date of manufacture are included on the roller blind fabric.
These safety measures will be applied to every blind supplied by Contrado Imaging Ltd.
We supply all blinds with an easy to install safety breakaway clip. Simply push the last ball on each side of the blind cord, into each end of the safety clip; there should be an audible click. To connect both pieces of the safety clip, just push together until it makes a snapping noise. This will now make your roller blind cord a loop, that will come apart when it's pulled too hard. To avoid this when opening and closing the blind, ensure you pull the cord gently while guiding the cord along with your hands.
What My Waterproof Bathroom Blinds will Look Like
Your blinds will arrive already rolled up and assembled on the pole for you, with the fittings attached. Your design will be printed on the front of the blind and the back will be a plain white textured material, which is almost rubberised to the touch. The material we use for these waterproof window blinds gives a deeper, more vivid colour than standard blinds (you can see this in the comparison picture above) and has an even feel to the front.
We add a few extra wraps to the fabric at the top of the blind, which is done by mirroring your design so that the colours match up. This is done so you can't see the pole when the blind is all the way down. To ensure that your fabric doesn't separate from the pole, make sure that you don't roll the blind down past the lower edge of the window.
Design Tips and Ideas
As these blinds are waterproof they are perfect for use in the bathroom, this doesn't mean that they are limited to it though. Waterproof blinds have a woven poly front face, making them equally as fantastic for the bedrooms of young children, or for the kitchen. They can be wiped clean if you have any unfortunate crayon accidents or oil splatters whilst making that full English breakfast.
