Traditional Lebanese Man/Monkey leather Coasters

This elegant handmade-to-order 3.8" square coaster features the "Bewoner van den Libanon" character from a hand-colored Karl Joseph Brodtmann stone lithograph from H.R. Schinz's 1840 Naturgeschichte und Abbidungen des Menschen. This man could be of Arab, Phoenician, or Canaanite descent. Brodtmann was part of the post-Linnaean Age of Enlightenment, hand-colouring sets for biologists and the aristocracy. Brodtmann's work displayed a remarkable sense of aesthetics and scientific accuracy. This handmade coaster is crafted from smooth Nappa leather with a black flocked back and smart grey stitching. There is a vegan friendly faux-leather alternative available.
